Wilhelm Bode
Wilhelm Bode became a pioneer of the cooperative movement in the whole of Germany. He founded the Spar- und Darlehnskasse Egestorf (Egestorf Loan and Savings Bank), which was one of the first credit unions in the Hanover province. In 2010, Egestorf, situated on the eastern edge of Lüneburg Heath, celebrated the 150th birthday of the legendary "heath pastor" and his pioneering work. More (in German) [PDF: 80Kb]....
